- : I've had a Supra modem for over 5 years now. The Callerid option on
- : occassion didn't work perfectly but, for the most part it worked and
- : was a really good modem. This xmas I got a SupraExpress28.8 modem. I
- : didn't need anything fancy just speed, speed, speed. I was (and am)
- : going to use the other Supra for the features that I needed. The only
- : reason I wanted another Supra was due to my using the old one and
- : liking it so much.
-
- : Now, for reality. I've had this modem nearly a month. I installed
- : it, and my Windows 95 (I happen to like the OS and if you have
- : something to say about it keep it to yourself) box recognized it as a
- : Serial Mouse. A Serial Mouse for pete's sake! I don't even own a
- : serial mouse. So, I sent Supra's technical support e-mail.. two weeks
- : later no response. During those two weeks, I figured out that if I
- : left the modem unplugged booted the Windows 95 box all the way up and
- : then plugged it in, it works! Well, that's not an option since I boot
- : and reboot quite a bit. So, letter number 2 to the wonderful people
- : at Supra. Finally a response that really didn't tell me anything I
- : didn't already know but, I tried their suggestions, removing all my
- : modem definitions and turning the machine off and booting up and
- : seeing what happens. (Same thing, serial mouse) So, I sent Supra
- : *another* e-mail and that was two weeks ago and I've gotten *no*
- : response again.
-
- I believe this is a case of the dog barking up the wrong tree. Why
- would you blame Supra when it's the OS's fault for thinking a modem is
- a mouse? You should be placing a call to MS Tech support, not to
- Supra.
-
- I'm not trying to start an OS war here, but those are the facts.
-
- : Well, I guess I'll live with the modem for a while (can't return it to
- : the dealer another long story) but, I do not recommend Supra modems
- : anymore.
-
- : Well, as long as I"m on the subject has anyone run across this problem
- : and have a solution?
